The short version: As an Amazon Associate, this site earns from qualifying purchases. If you click an affiliate link and buy something, we may receive a small commission — at no extra cost to you. It never changes the price you pay.
How affiliate links work here
Freelance Rate Calculator is operated by Pond Software. A few pages — mainly the role-specific rate pages — include a “recommended gear” section with links to relevant books and equipment. Many of these are links to Amazon, and we participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program.
When you follow one of these links, Amazon (or another retailer) may set a cookie so that a resulting purchase is credited to us. If you buy, we earn a small commission. You pay the normal price — the commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your wallet.
Our promise on recommendations
- Relevance before commission. We only suggest products that make sense for the page you're reading. A commission never buys a placement.
- The tools work without clicking anything. The calculators and articles are free and fully useful on their own. You never need to buy a thing.
- Clearly marked. Affiliate sections are labeled, and the links use the standard “sponsored” and “nofollow” markup so search engines and browsers know what they are.
Why we disclose this
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires sites to disclose financial relationships behind endorsements, and Amazon requires Associates to identify themselves as such. Beyond the rules, we think you deserve to know when a link could earn us money. Affiliate commissions and lightweight ads are what keep the site free to use.
